Ferrari 458 Spider Official Video &Images out at Frankfurt Motor Show

Ferrari unveiled the new convertible version of the 458 Italia at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor show. The new Ferrari called the 458 Spider comes with roof that can be folded away neatly at the back. Ferrai engineers have focussed on the Roof mechanism of the 458 Spider. As per the sources, they have used ultra-complex mechanism which allows the roof to fold much like Ferrai Super America.

The Ferrari 458 Spider's hard top of 25kg lighter than a traditional soft top and is also quieter and thermally more efficient when raised. The hard top, which takes 14 seconds to open or close, has been engineered to occupy a very small space when stowed in order to include a rear bench for luggage.

The rear windscreen is also utilised as a wind stop and is electrically adjustable. The wind stop opens to the height for the most efficient aerodynamics when the hard top is down.

The Ferrari 458 Spider is powered by the 570 CV 4499cc V8 engine, which has been named International Engine of the Year 2011. Combined with the dual-clutch F1 paddle shift transmission, 0-100km/h is reached in less than 3.4 seconds on to a top speed of 320km/h.

Conforming to 2020 safety legislation, the Ferrari 458 Spider's all-aluminium chassis incorporates new alloys and castings.
