Ford plans small car priced at Rs 3-4 lakh to compete Maruti A Star, Hyundai i10

Barely a month ago Ford has tied up the pact with Gujarat government for the new plant at Sanand. Now, sources close to the company have also informed that the company has started working on a small car for Indian market.

The company sees a huge potential in Indian market for small cars. The small car will be based on 1 Litre Ecoboost petrol engine and will compete with Maruti Suzuki's A-Star and Hyundai's I10.

The car is codenamed as B562. The car is expected to be launched in the Indian market by 2014, as the company has already approached some of the auto component makers for the parts. The car would be priced between Rs 3-4 Lac. The company sees a potential of selling more than 2,17,000 cars including exports during first 12-18 months.
