Facts about New Hyundai HA-800,an answer to Maruti 800

If we go back to late 1980's, 800cc was the thing to boast about and was the ultimate definition of luxury.

With the passage of time and introduction of new models, entry of foreign OEM, latest technologies, advanced features & even luxurious fitments like sunroof, recliner seats etc. etc. also feel less. Things will keep on changing but what will not change is the era of 800cc cars, which still prevails to be the highest selling volume car. Though the shift has been seen from Maruti 800 to Maruti Alto but the Brand name Maruti still remains the same. Even Tata Nano could do no harm to the market leader.

Now with the ready launch of Hyundai's 800 cc car codenamed HA 800(or as Team Wheelomania names it "i5")  is Maruti fearing of its market Share? Will HA-800 be able to grab the market share till now captured by Maruti 800/Maruti Alto?

Recently Maruti declared that their Engineers are working on new Maruti's 800cc car with modifications as required by the market, Hyundai also revealed that their HA 800 would also be launched some where near end of October and has also listed few of its features. Have a glance at those features and let us know what else, if at all you would have expected from a Hyundai 800 cc car ?

* Fully loaded variant has Beige Interiors, air conditioning, power steering and two tone dashboard.
* Plastic quality, fit and finish would be similar to as installed in i10(which is already a hit among Indian market).
* Despite a low cost car, Instrument panel is placed behind the Steering wheel and not in the center of dashboard(as in Low Cost cars like Tata Nano and Toyota Etios Liva)
* A Coin tray sits above the Glove Box as seen in Ford Figo.
* Has a CD/MP3/USB playing capability. The buttons arranged in V shape are finished in grayish silver.
* AC Control knobs will be dial type(read like i20). The primitive twist is ignored but continues like Santro.
* Height adjustable headrests for Front Seats and Integrated head rests for the rear seats.
* A three-dial layout with speedometer resting at the center, engine temperature with digital display at left and fuel quantity on the right side.
* Two windshield wipers are installed at the front unlike the single Low Cost wiper as of Nano.
* Electronic Power steering is fitted for a better fuel efficiency.
* The Steering wheel is carried over from i10.
* Front windows will be electrically controlled and the rear windows will be manual.
* The angle of rear windshield will generate a slight extra amount of Boot Volume.

With all these features can Hyundai answer to Maruti's 800cc/Alto make them market leader in segment?
Would Hyundai HA 800 be an answer to Indians need to Small, Low Cost but with enough features to boast about?
Would Hyundai HA 800 send the Alto packing?
Would its advanced features, refreshing new looks and somewhat similar to i10 make Alto pointless buying?

Need Consumer's expectations and reply for the same ?
