Renault B58 To Be Launched In 2012 Auto Expo India



It is only hours that Maruti Suzuki announced the launch of its up graded version of popular model Maruti Swift and Nissan and Renault have started preparing for giving rival a tough competition. Renault has recently announced its upcoming model of small cars as B58. Both the partners have decided upon some plans by to have a control on the booming Indian auto market. The new car will be named as Renault B58.



The car is based on Nissan V platform which is shared globally by both the partners globally. The platform supports Nissan Sunny, Nissan Almera and Nissan Micra. However it is widely speculated that its engine will be similar to Nissan Micra, rather the car will use the same engine as that of Micra. The car will be launched in two variants. One will be a 1.2 liter petrol engine and other 1.5 liter diesel engine. The car may look somewhat like Maruti Wagon-R. The car is being designed at company’s Mumbai design studio. The French firm is not disclosing any further technical specifications of the new car.
The price of Renault B58 will be in competition to its rivals Suzuki Swift, Hyundai’s i10, Toyota’s Etios Liva, Ford Fiesta and others. The new car is also expected to offer more or less similar mileage and engine horse power as that of the above mentioned models. It will be a matter of speculation as to what new B58 will offer.

Len Curran, the vice-president (sales and marketing), Renault India said that the car will be designed keeping in view the Indian needs and road conditions. In other words the car will be designed in a very India specific way. It is evident from his words that Renault is giving a top priority to the Indian market which is about to become the fourth largest market of world within next three years. The French auto giant is trying to broaden the range of its existing products and want to venture out in almost all segments of market.
Renault has separated away with its earlier partner “Mahindra and Mahindra” and now it will be all Renault and Renault for the success of the new car.  The company has targeted opening 100 dealerships in over 75 cities to cover 80% market. The car will be unveiled at 2012 Auto Expo.
