Ministry sees 1 million EVs in China's fleet by '15

China will have a fleet of 1 million electric vehicles by 2015, according to a plan that China's Ministry of Science and Technology has released.
The document is known as the State Development Blueprint for Science and Technology in the 12th Five-Year (2011-2015) Period.

Under the plan, more than 30 cities will participate in an EV demonstration project.
The ministry also expects domestic Chinese companies to achieve breakthroughs in key technologies such as batteries, vehicle integration and battery charging stations.
The ministry forecasts that China's electric vehicle industry will generate output worth more than 100 billion yuan ($17 billion) by 2015.
