Ssangyong low finds a new lease of life in regards to its UK presence that finds support through an investment into the Korean marquee’s UK import prospects. Bassadone Automotive Group, a Hampshire-based company has taken over Ssangyong’s previous importer Koelliker UK. Bassadone Automotive Group’s plans include expanding the dealer network from 50 to 65 to support new sales targets.
Only recently, Indian group Mahindra & Mahindra bought a 70% stake in Ssangyong Motors as the company was on the verge of liquidation in South Korea. The Bassadone Automotive Group will first bring the Korando SUV to UK. Powered by a 2.0-liter common-rail diesel engine the Korando SUV will be available as a two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. Options include manual and automatic transmissions, and the price range is expected to be anywhere between £17,000 to around £23,000.
The next few weeks will see Bassadone Automotive Group import 2012 versions of the Rexton 2 and Rodius. Both are powered by a five-cylinder 2.7-liter diesel engine. The Rexton 2 price range is £19,995 to £23,995, and the Rodius price range seems pegged at £14,995 and £20,995. Ssangyong may exhibit an electric vehicle and road going version of the SUT1 sports utility pick up concept at the Frankfurt motor show in September 2011.
