Chevrolet to launch Cruze diesel in US and Canada by 2013

Chevrolet has cleared all doubts by establishing that they will be launching Cruze diesel in US and Canada during 2013. Two more years is the current waiting period for Cruze diesel to arrive at dealers showrooms across these two countries. No details were revealed by the company as to what engine Cruze diesel will possess, but it is predicted that it should be similar to what was launched in Europe and Australia.
It is estimated that Cruze will sport a 2.0 liter four cylinder engine which is designed by Italian firm V M Motori, jointly owned by GM and Fiat. Its engine has been in use in a number of cars launched overseas from a variety of other manufacturers.
Cruze diesel engine generates 161 horsepower at 4000 rpm and 236 lb/ft torque at 2000 rpm. Diesel powered Cruze will be more powerful than a 1.4 liter 138 hp petrol engine currently in use in North America. Cruze diesel is expected to arrive in India by the same time.
